Introduction to Alcohol Inks Workshop

Thursday 23rd May 11am – 1:30pm

Have you ever wanted to try or experiment with alcohol inks? In this two and a half hour workshop with artist Tracey Jane Cooper, you will learn about the process and try different ways to work with this fascinating medium.

All materials are provided and you will leave with your own A4 mounted artwork.

Beginners are welcome. You don’t need to be able to draw or paint to enjoy this creative workshop.

Please note – don’t wear your best outfit. You shouldn’t get any ink on your clothes but if you do it’s difficult to completely remove. You’re welcome to bring an apron if you wish or latex gloves if you prefer to keep your fingers clean.

We will be using small amounts of Isopropyl, which does have an odour, but the mezzanine studio will be ventilated.

Meet the artist:
Tracey Jane Cooper creates uplifting, contemporary art from her studio in central Reigate, Surrey. She is inspired by natures’ colour and patterns, which is evident in her work.

As well as painting with acrylic, Tracey Jane has developed a passion for working with alcohol ink.

Often working without brushes and mainly a straw, she creates fluid shapes which have many intricate layers, giving the appearance of a delicate, chiffon-like quality.

She says: “The vibrancy of the highly pigmented ink and the way it moves and creates different tones when it mixes with the alcohol is quite mesmerising to see.”

Tracey Jane will be opening her studio in June as part of Surrey Artists Open Studios
