Helen Melia
Abstract painter
I am an experimental abstract painter, inspired by the natural world, living and working in Rudgwick, on the Surrey/Sussex border.
I work on canvas, paper and board, using acrylics, textures, spray paints, inks, metallic paints and gold leaf, my own handprinted collage papers and many different tools.
My abstracts involve layers of colour and texture, and strong tonal contrasts to provoke emotions, sensations and memories. I enjoy interpreting dramatic landscapes and seascapes, as well as the gentle local landscape of woodland and Weald - and my own garden.
As growing roses is also a passion, I also photograph the abundance of blooms and make these into greetings cards.
