Helen Melia

I am an experimental abstract painter, producing vibrant paintings on both canvas and paper, using acrylics, inks, metallic paints, gold leaf and my own handmade collage papers. My work is rooted in nature, inspired by both the scenery of places visited and my local gentle landscapes of woodland and downland, where I spend much of my life walking. The paintings rely on imagination and are at various levels of abstraction but the original inspiration will always be visible. My studio is set in a large cottage garden specialising in roses, and I have also produced still-life photos of these blooms, available as greetings cards. The garden backs onto ancient woodland and is a very tranquil place to visit. Larger paintings will be on display in the house.
