Janet Gale – Gonetopotceramics

I am a self taught potter, having been a portrait watercolour artist for many years, I had the opportunity to work with clay, and I jumped straight in, initially working with the figure and loving every minute. I then had the opportunity to purchase a potters wheel and I was hooked. I touch clay every day and it is good for my well being. I now pass on my skills, teaching 8 to 80 year olds and I enjoy that too. I work mostly in stoneware clay, but sometimes porcelain. I produce both functional and decorative ware. All of my functional ware is dishwasher, microwave and oven safe. My glazes consist of a floating blue glaze which runs and flows creating a liquid effect, a satin green glaze which form crystals and finally a shiny turquoise glaze. I make all my glazes myself, using recipes I’ve developed myself.
