Mosaic  |  Visit Open Studio

I like to think of myself as a creative experimenter who has finally found 'the one.' At school, I enjoyed dress-making (yes, there was a time when it was actually taught in schools). Since then, I have designed greeting cards, wedding stationery, dabbled in resin, tried calligraphy, alcohol art, pottery, garden design, and creating silver jewellery, which I love. However, my greatest creative passion is mosaic art. I have been creating mosaics for about nine years and still can't believe I missed out on it for so long. I love mosaic art because it’s relaxing and allows me to either follow a design or let the colours and shapes guide the finished piece. I started with glass and ceramic tiles, but the possibilities are almost endless: wood, slate, bricks, shells, stones, old jewellery, china, pins, and crushed glass. I’m sure there are many other materials perfect for mosaic art. My range includes pieces for the garden - designed to place on poles, hang from trees, or fix on walls and fences. For indoors, my work is meant for walls, as well as pieces to hang on trees and pots of branches. The sparklier, the better.
