Miranda Kemp
Printmaker, Bookbinder
Rooted in a background in visual studies, my practice spans both printmaking and contemporary bookbinding. I’m drawn to nature as a starting point—often beginning in the garden, where I gather visual and tactile impressions. Patterns, textures, shapes, and colours found in the natural world form the foundation of my work.
My printmaking focuses primarily on etching, particularly using multiple aquatint plates to build layered, nuanced imagery. I also explore drypoint and linocut techniques, valuing their distinct material qualities and mark-making potential.
In bookbinding, I specialise in contemporary fine bindings, working to commission and for exhibition. I use traditional materials and methods while also developing new decorative techniques, aiming to create bindings that respond to and reflect the content—both textual and visual—of each book. My bindings are held in private collections and institutions, including the British Library.
