Anne Winstanley Wood

Inspired by the Surrey Hills and Yorkshire Dales, I paint joyful, contemporary landscapes characterised by gorgeous colours, expressive mark making, full of movement and visual storytelling.

Expect to see bold, creative brush marks, layers of acrylic paint, glazes, collage and inks, drips, dabs, washes and scratches as my distinctive trees, houses, walls and hills gradually emerge to form uplifting, lyrical landscapes.

My recent pieces include the music of Surrey Hills’ composer, Vaughn Williams and the poems of Yorkshire poets Anne Brontë and Ted Hughes who all used their art form as a response to the landscape which captured their imagination.

My studio in East Horsley is attached to my home and can be fully accessed from the gorgeous garden backing on to woods which make the perfect setting for my nature-inspired art. You will find a wide range of original artwork from small sized paintings to larger statement pieces alongside giclée prints, browsers, sketches and a wide selection of greeting cards.

East Horsley is a fabulous village offering plenty of lovely, independent shops and eating places with walks in the surrounding countryside and several National Trust properties close by.
