Studio Reiko

Originally I came from Tokyo, where I met my English husband and who brought me to live within the Surrey Hills. I have a small studio on Leith Hill, which provides a really beautiful and quiet place to work. My main work is wheel thrown pottery , I design and create each my works to be light in weigh but durable , decorative yet functional using porcelain, stoneware and earthenware. I love the throwing process, it is both inspiring and exciting, As I’m now including some Japanese processes into my work called Kinstugi which translates into Gold Joinery in which the gold line adds to beauty of the piece, creating something unique. The work becomes more beautiful , celebrating the repair as part of a pot’s new life. My new work reflects more strongly, my Japanese origins.
