My work is rooted in folklore, stories woven through the land, carried by time, and whispered through nature. Growing up in Devon, a place rich in magical history, I developed a deep connection to the natural world that continues to shape my practice. After studying Fine Art and spending nearly two decades in London, I was drawn back to the countryside, where I now live and work in Dorking, reconnecting with the rhythms of land, season, and making.
Working with clay and plaster, I create botanical, moon, and skull-inspired pieces that explore spirituality, symbolism, and the fragility of life. I take impressions from clay to produce intricate bas-relief plaster casts, capturing delicate details, the veins of a leaf, the curve of a petal, preserving fleeting natural forms. Alongside this, I create ceramic ornaments, printers’ tray wall art, altar pieces, and jewellery.
Cyclical living plays a key role in my process and mental health, guiding me to work in harmony with nature’s rhythms. Summer botanicals, lunar phases, and winter’s introspective energy all find their way into my work. I also incorporate foraged materials wherever possible, keeping my practice sustainable and responsive to the landscape.
Since 2006, Abilu Creations has evolved from upcycled jewellery to one-of-a-kind pieces inspired by nature. Ceramics, sea glass, shells, and semi-precious stones become wearable forms that carry their own quiet stories and magic.
Whether you’re a botanist or a wild child at heart, my work invites you to slow down, look closer, and find quiet magic in the natural world.
