Chantelle is a self-taught contemporary landscape artist with a background in conceptual graphic design. With a passion for colour and curiosity to explore self through paint, she creates large meaningful paintings of the natural world, all with their own unique story. She becomes the mountains, the sky, the clouds, the movement in the water and the sound in the grass. All these elements are so different, but connected to form a landscape of which we are all part. Her approach has a way of capturing the beauty encountered on her excursions with her family, she absorbs the energy from the natural world emanating though the intense use of colours she applies to her canvas – an inner expression of the wildness and the power of the natural world felt within that moment in time.

With a desire to explore, she paints with her fingers, particularly in the clouds which she says transforms her spiritual self. Pallet knifes and also foliage collected from her walks along coastal paths and landscapes are collected to use in application. The dot detail is drawn from her inspiration of Indigenous art and wanting to share a message with us all, that we as people are connected to the land, we are all part of our beautiful earth – we are one.
