Willow Bank Studio Jan Lee Johnson

Jan Lee Johnson is a prolific painter exploring the human condition, nature, conflict and injustices. Primarily a painter, her work crosses several genres such as trompe l’oeil, contemporary abstraction taking inspiration from history and old masters. Her narrative works are often informed by imagery discovered through research into local history archives, explored in drawings prints and paintings. She balances her studio time as a painter, while teaching painting and digital media, and has regular watercolour art club in Richmond. Her work has been exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Show and Discerning Eye at the Mall Galleries and purchased by UAE ministry of Culture. The studio in Ham is a working space on the ground floor with a display area showing cards, prints, paintings small and large, watercolours and textile works. Painted artefacts and small domestic furnishings add to a range of work for sale.

During open studios Jan will demonstrate her iPad painting techniques using Procreate and the art work she produces using digital media.
